Sister Dorothy Marie, 82, died February 10, 2016 in Rosary Care Center at the Motherhouse after a courageous battle with cancer.  Sister Dorothy Marie came to the convent in 1947 from St. Ladislaus Parish in Hamtramck.  In her 65 years of religious life, Sister Dorothy Marie served her community and God’s people in a variety of ways.  She taught for 16 years in Ohio and Minnesota and ministered in support, dietary and transportation services for almost 50 years in Ohio, Texas and Louisiana.

Sister Dorothy Marie was known to be a private person.  She had a great sense of humor and always wanted to help others, but not get any credit for what she did.  In her final years, she spent time in Alverno Studio helping Sister Jane Mary produce some of her ceramic murals.  Drive by the 10 Mile Bridge on Main Street in Sylvania and you will see some of her work.
