You are invited to a canning workshop on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.  We’re welcoming canning experts Jan and Wendy who will set up all the gear we need in the Lourdes Dining Hall kitchen, so we’ll have plenty of space to move around.

The workshop is brought to you by the Laudato Si’ Implementation Team as a sustainable communal way to enjoy each other and our harvests for many months to come.

There are only ten spaces available, and you are being given the first option on them. The invitation will expand to others on July 23.

The workshop is designed for novice canners as well as seasoned food preservers. We’ll prepare a recipe together, get to sample the finished product, and learn the science behind what makes food shelf stable – and how to do it. Plus, at the end of the session, you’ll get to take home a freshly canned jar of whatever recipe we cook up.
