sr-sharon-havelak
From:

Columbia Heights, MN

First Profession:

1968

Ministries:

From 1968-1977, Sister taught grades 1-4 in OH, MI and MN. Back at the Motherhouse, she transitioned to the House of Prayer, serving until 1981. Her discernment led her next to peace and justice work as well as art school at BGSU. In 1983, Sister began serving in the Lourdes art department, becoming an instructor by 1987. She was called to Congregational Leadership from 2000-2008, has been with the JPIC office since 2009, and served as Director of All Good Things from 2009-2014, continuing as a consultant to the present day.

How to Change the World: Sister fills quiet afternoons with vibrant color, artistically rejoicing in God’s beauty. She fills noisy intersections with her quiet presence, protesting injustice to all of God’s creatures and, when she finds need, she fills it with action. Sister quotes Saint John of the Cross: Where there is no love, put love – and there you will find love.
