Sister Transfer Haiti Ministry to TVI

For 15 years, the Sisters of St. Francis have ministered in Pestel, Haiti. During that time, they have trained Haitian leaders through the Christians Progress Together (KPA) development group. Now they are handing this ministry over to Thriving Villages International with whom they have partnered on various projects for nine years.

Thriving Villages is a Christian organization that addresses issues of health, education, poverty and development. Its founder, Dr. Ben Fredrick who teaches at Penn State College of Medicine, is their chair of Global Health Initiatives, and is also a recipient of the Sisters’ St. Clare Award for his contributions to society and modeling Franciscan values in his everyday life.

Since Hurricane Matthew struck Haiti on October 4, the Thriving Villages’ board has been actively engaged in assisting the people. Sylvania Franciscan Sister Fidelis Rubbo has also recently joined the board.
