“Our Path to Sustainability”

Tuesday, January 24, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Science Alliance for Valuing the Environment, Inc. (S.A.V.E.) presents Melissa Green, Sustainability Coordinator for the Toledo-Lucas County Sustainability Commission, on Tuesday, January 24, from 7:30 – 9 p.m. in the Franciscan Center of Lourdes University, 6832 Convent Blvd., in Sylvania. The lecture titled “Greater Toledo Going Beyond Green: Our Path to Sustainability” is free and open to the public.

In the spring of 2014, the Toledo Lucas-County Sustainability Commission completed Greater Toledo: Going Beyond Green, the region’s sustainability plan which lays the framework to complete projects that protect the environment, promote social equity, and create economic development opportunities for the community. The plan also addresses water quality, local foods, and energy efficiency. During the lecture, Ms. Green will share how the commission is implementing exciting projects that are being undertaken, how they are tracking their progress, and how individuals can get involved.

For further information on S.A.V.E. or upcoming lectures, please contact Sr. Rosine Sobczak, OSF, at 419-824-3691 or email rsobczak@lourdes.edu. S.A.V.E. is a 501c (3) non-profit organization whose purpose is to educate people of all ages about the environment and to link ecology and spirituality to bring others a greater appreciation of the natural world. The S.A.V.E. office is located on the grounds of the Sisters of St. Francis and home of Lourdes University.
