Sister Ann Joachim’s ministry as a second-grade teacher began in 1947. She taught in Toledo and Detroit before moving to New Orleans, where she was in ministry for 41 years with her natural sister Sister Ramona and Sister Carol. They weathered many storms through the years, including Hurricane Katrina and the long struggle to rebuild the community.
Almost famous: With a 68-year ministry in education, Sister Ann Joachim and Sister Ramona couldn’t go anywhere without running into a former student who would say, “Hey! I had you in second grade!”
