Sister Ruth Marie Kachelek,
was the seventh General Superior of the Sisters of St. Francis.
During her 69 years of religious life she taught, served as principal, Assistant Superintendent of Toledo
Diocesan Schools, and later served the poor in Kentucky for eight years. She did not have extensive formal
studies in art but had an instinctive ability. She painted the six-foot San Damiano Cross which hangs in
Queen of Peace Chapel.
