Meet Sister Sharon Derivan, OSF

Ministries:

Sister taught middle school from 1969-1980 in OH and MI, then served as a principal until 1984. She returned to school to study law. After graduating from Catholic University in 1987 and completing some additional studies in 1988, Sister served as a researcher , Sister served as a researcher and Legal Assistant in the D.C. area. Since 1989, Sister has ministered as Career Law Clerk at the U.S. District Court in Akron, OH and served in Congregational Leadership from 2012-2021.

“I had great nuns,” Sister says, ticking off Sisters Kenneth, Victoria, Madeleva and Gwendolin as proof. Her mother taught at the same school, giving Sister the opportunity to grow up “seeing the Sisters as people.” Since entering the convent in 8th grade, Sister has embraced her path as a Sylvania Franciscan and watches it unfold with gentle delight.
